A public inquiry examining "very serious" allegations of British forces committing dozens of unlawful killings in Afghanistan has announced that any soldier who violated the law will be investigated. The British Ministry of Defence ordered this independent investigation last December after the BBC aired a documentary stating that British Special Air Service soldiers killed 54 people in Afghanistan under suspicious circumstances. The inquiry was prompted after two families initiated legal action requesting judges to review their cases, claiming the Special Air Service killed their relatives in 2011 and 2012.
