After Legislative Amendment: No Plans to Rebuild Settlements in the West Bank

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed on Wednesday that Israel has no plans to build new settlements in an area of the occupied West Bank that was evacuated in 2005 under a law repealed by the ruling coalition composed of hardline religious factions this week. The repeal decision made on Tuesday sparked protests from Palestinians, who seek to establish a state in the West Bank, as well as from the United States and the European Union.
