Commercial Cargo Ship Shot At South of Hodeidah Port

The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has reported that a commercial cargo ship was fired upon south of Hodeidah port. The agency stated today, Saturday, that "the commercial vessel was 38 nautical miles (70 kilometers) south of Hodeidah port when the attack occurred." It added that one vessel approached within one nautical mile from the right side of the ship in the dark, where the cargo ship reported four or five bursts of automatic gunfire. The agency mentioned that a security team on board responded by opening fire, causing the attacking boat to retreat, and the safety of the ship and its crew was confirmed. The security company "Ambrey" stated that the name of the ship was withheld, indicating only that it flies the Liberian flag and was sailing north, last calling at Vung Tau, Vietnam, and transiting through Singapore.
