The President of the Economic and Social Council, Charles Arbid, pointed out that "next year is expected to bring more economic decline and contraction, as long as the political horizon is blocked, which will mean higher rates of poverty and unemployment." In an interview with the "Al-Anbaa" electronic newspaper, Arbid noted that the economy is ill, suffering and burdened by the political reality, and is closely linked to it. Therefore, solutions lie in politics, and the implementation of reform plans and projects is required; otherwise, more social turmoil is anticipated.
Arbid mentioned the key political steps that need to be followed: "by fulfilling obligations, respecting the constitution and its deadlines, forming a government that enjoys confidence, and moving towards financial and banking reform." However, at the same time, he saw no prospects for any of these points at present.
