The Fate of Bank Closures Will Be Determined After Monday's Holiday

Despite its insistence on not returning to strikes or forced closures, the Association of Banks in Lebanon has decided to close all bank branches in Lebanon starting today "indefinitely," according to a banking source for "Al Markazia." They will only provide ATM services due to the repeated assaults on various bank branches and the daily violations that have not been deterred by the individual measures taken by each bank. This comes amid a noteworthy disregard by the state for putting an end to this chaos, which has become a phenomenon unprecedented in Lebanon's history. In this context, the banking source revealed that the association will hold a meeting next week after the official holiday for the Prophet's Birthday, which falls on Monday the 10th, to discuss whether to proceed with the closure decision or retract it, depending on the developments and circumstances available at that time.
