7.3 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Kermadec Islands Near New Zealand

The U.S. Geological Survey reported that "a 7.3 magnitude earthquake, at a depth of ten kilometers, struck the Kermadec Islands region near New Zealand today (Monday)." The U.S. warning system initially issued a tsunami warning following the earthquake but later canceled it.
