America and Britain Establish a Breakaway Boxing Union

A group of national federations, including the United States and Britain, announced the establishment of a separate global boxing union today, Thursday, in a step aimed at securing the future of the sport in the Olympics amid turmoil. Leaders of the new global federation expressed their aspirations to gain recognition from the International Olympic Committee during a press conference. The group includes federations that have already announced a boycott of men's and women's championships organized this year by the International Boxing Association, led by Russian Umar Kremlev.
