The Israeli Defense Ministry announced on Wednesday that it thwarted an attempt to smuggle weapons hidden in furniture sent from the Gaza Strip to the West Bank. In a statement, it explained that "a shipment of furniture from Gaza to the West Bank aroused the guards' suspicions, and a thorough inspection revealed various types of firearms hidden inside the furniture, along with ammunition and silencers that were also confiscated." The ministry added that "according to initial estimates, the weapons were shipped for 'destructive' purposes in the West Bank and have been transferred to security forces for further review."
