PSV Eindhoven Bans Fan for 40 Years Following Attack on Sevilla's Goalkeeper

Dutch club PSV Eindhoven has banned a fan for 40 years after he assaulted Sevilla goalkeeper Marko Dmitrović during a Europa League match last month. The match, held at PSV's stadium, was halted in the final minutes when a fan rushed onto the pitch and punched Dmitrović in the face, before the Serbian goalkeeper managed to tackle him to the ground. A court sentenced the 20-year-old to three months in prison, suspended for one month.

The Dutch top-tier club stated in a release: "In addition to the 40-year ban from entering the stadium, PSV will initiate proceedings to claim damages from him for any harm caused to the club." They added: "He has also received a two-year ban from being in the vicinity of the club's stadium from the public prosecutor." The fan was already serving a general ban from entering stadiums until 2026, imposed by the Dutch football association, but PSV noted he had entered the stands using a ticket from a friend.
