Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, is seeking to win a defamation case against Associated Newspapers without going to trial, as he escalates his legal battles against tabloid press, according to his lawyer on Friday. Last year, Prince Harry, the youngest son of King Charles, filed a lawsuit against the publishing house over an article published in the "Mail on Sunday" that claimed he attempted to keep details secret regarding a separate legal battle he is waging with the British government over his security arrangements.
The High Court in London ruled in July that the newspaper's report constituted defamation against the prince, paving the way for Harry to escalate the case and proceed with legal action against one of the largest publishing houses in Britain. The article alleged that Harry, 38, attempted to hide details about his legal fight to regain his right to police protection, which was withdrawn after he stepped back from royal duties in 2020, and that his aides attempted to twist the truth.
