Child Found Inside Bag in Eastern Deir ez-Zor

Residents of rural Deir ez-Zor discovered a newborn baby, abandoned by their parents for unknown reasons, placed inside a bag in front of the Rahman Mosque in the town of Al-Busaira. This incident comes amid a growing phenomenon of parents abandoning their children for various reasons, particularly due to deteriorating living conditions and other factors. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on March 13 that locals found a newborn girl, also abandoned for unknown reasons, discarded on a sidewalk in the Al-Thakana neighborhood of Raqqa city.
