The Pakistani police have withdrawn from the vicinity of former Prime Minister Imran Khan's home following violent clashes with his supporters. The police used water cannons to disperse Khan's supporters, who were trying to prevent officials from arresting him at his residence. Khan's government was ousted in April, and he has since faced a series of court cases, but he remains highly popular and is hopeful of returning to power in the parliamentary elections scheduled for October. This marks the second time this month that police have been dispatched from the capital Islamabad to Khan's home in Lahore to execute a warrant for his arrest after he failed to appear in court due to security concerns. In a video recorded inside his home and posted on Twitter, Khan stated: "The police came here to arrest me... they think the nation will sleep when Imran Khan is taken to jail."
