A government official in India revealed that a mortar shell fired by the Indian Army during a training exercise missed its target and hit a house in a village in the eastern part of the country, resulting in the deaths of a young couple and their neighbor. The official in the state, Pankaj Kumar, stated that the couple was visiting the village of Golfard in the Gaya district of Bihar to celebrate the Hindu festival of "Holi." The official also confirmed that two other individuals were injured when the shell fell in the yard of the house. Details indicate that the village is located 120 kilometers south of Patna, the state capital, near a military training ground.
