The Media and Communications Committee held a session this morning, Monday, in the Parliamentary Council, chaired by MP Ibrahim Al-Mousawi and attended by members, during which a report on the telecommunications sector was reviewed. After the session, Al-Mousawi stated: "The session was dedicated to listening to Judge Abdul-Razzaq Nasser and Judge Zainab Hamoud, and everyone knows that the telecommunications sector suffers from chaos. What we have done in the Parliament, is that the Court of Audit report formed a sound legal basis for moving toward a legal path leading to conclusive judicial findings. When it was decided to establish a parliamentary investigation committee, not all those who needed to attend from the parliamentary blocs were present, and we all know that the telecommunications sector suffers from corruption. The lack of a parliamentary investigation committee does not prevent us from fulfilling our duties."
He added, "The issue of telecommunications was raised by the judges, and there were questions and answers. The Audit Court report was presented, which is related to the phenomenon of illegal internet and submarine cables. President Hamoud presented all the issues." He continued, "We did not reach a conclusion today. We will head to the Court of Audit for further expansion to build on what is necessary, and we must reach conclusions to present them to the judiciary. Three reports have been issued by the Court of Audit, and we are determined to move forward to understand what we will do on the level of this judiciary."
