Italian Agriculture Minister Francesco Lollobrigida announced that the long-lasting drought in Italy is due to climate change, which means the country must adapt to the new reality. In an interview with Reuters, Lollobrigida stated that "Italy needs to build more reservoirs to retain rainwater, urgently repair leaking water networks and dams, and consider excluding traditional crops that require a lot of water from increasingly arid areas." He added, "The drought is not an emergency; it is linked to climate change."
