Uzbekistan's President Calls for Early Presidential Elections

The Russian media agency reported today, Monday, that "Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has called for early presidential elections without specifying a date for the voting." Voters in Uzbekistan approved a package of constitutional amendments in a referendum held on April 30 of last year, allowing Mirziyoyev to run for two additional terms, each lasting 7 years.
