Jumblatt: I Will Not Nominate Anyone for the Presidency

The leader of the Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Jumblatt, confirmed that he will not nominate anyone for the presidency and that "the major players in this matter, such as Hezbollah, Samir Geagea, the head of the Lebanese Forces, Gibran Bassil, and the change-makers, should decide." Regarding the issue of Syrian displacement, he indicated in an interview with "MTV" that "we cannot hold the Syrian solely responsible for the financial collapse while we have not taken any reform steps; the return of the displaced is tied to the will of their regime, and I suggest creating decent camps for them in Lebanon." He added, "We must distinguish between the Syrian citizens who have lived in Lebanon for a long time and those who have been displaced," considering that "there is a disagreement about the numbers, but can Hezbollah guarantee their safety?" He questioned, "Does Bashar al-Assad want the return of the displaced? The talk about Syria returning to the Arab fold is strange, as there is no Arab embrace at all."
