Japanese Nikkei Declines

The Japanese Nikkei index fell at the close today, Wednesday, down 0.25%, thereby offsetting most of its earlier losses which had reached 1%. The broader "Topix" index ended the session almost stable, with only a slight decrease of 0.01%. The pharmaceutical sector rose by 1.78%, with "Sumitomo Pharma" recording a jump of 3.5%.
