Lionel Messi apologized to his club Paris Saint-Germain, competing in Ligue 1, and to his teammates on Friday after being suspended for taking an unauthorized trip to Saudi Arabia, which caused him to miss a training session. French media reported that "Messi was suspended for two weeks after a trip to Saudi Arabia that he was not authorized to take when he was supposed to train with the team following their 3-1 defeat at home to Lorient last Sunday."
In a video on Instagram, Messi stated: "I truly thought I would get a day off after the game as I always did in previous weeks. I had this trip organized and I couldn't cancel it. I had already canceled it before."
The Argentine striker added, "I apologize to my teammates, and I'm waiting for what the club wants to do with me."
