Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi affirmed today, Friday, that her country has been in contact with Thailand, China, India, and the United Nations regarding the crisis in Myanmar, as well as with key parties within the country, calling for an immediate cessation of violence during these meetings. She stated that "it is essential to build trust and not to resort to megaphone diplomacy." Retno had previously told Reuters exclusively that Indonesia, the current chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), has been engaging with key parties in the Myanmar crisis, with its diplomats participating in over 60 meetings in the past four months.
