UAE Withdraws from US-Led Maritime Alliance

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated today that the UAE "withdrew two months ago from a U.S.-led maritime security coalition in the Middle East." The ministry confirmed in a statement that "as a result of our ongoing assessment of effective security cooperation with all partners, the UAE has withdrawn from its participation in the unified naval force." It added, "The UAE is committed to peaceful dialogue and diplomatic means to enhance shared goals of regional security and stability, and the UAE continues to ensure the safe navigation in its waters responsibly."
