Armed men kidnapped 40 people from a church in a village in northern Nigeria today, Monday, in the latest assault on worshipers. Joseph John Haiyan, the president of the Nigerian Christian Association in Kaduna State, stated that "the attack occurred yesterday, Sunday, when armed men stormed worshipers during a service at a church in the village of Madala in the Chikun area." He added, "15 of the kidnapped individuals escaped from their captors last night, Sunday." Haiyan confirmed that "we have not received any communication from the armed men regarding a ransom or anything concerning the remaining individuals, and we pray for mercy to descend in the hearts of the kidnappers and that they return the 25 others to their families."
