Hungarian Deputy Speaker of Parliament Dora Duro warned that Finland's accession to NATO will lead to an increased risk of armed confrontation between the alliance and Russia. She pointed out that the border between the alliance and Russia will expand by 1,340 kilometers. This will increase the likelihood of escalation, as well as the danger of direct armed conflict between a NATO member state and Russia. She noted that Washington uses NATO to protect its global role, which compels it to expand the alliance by accepting two more countries, Sweden and Finland.
