One of the participants in the rescue operation of a tourist boat that caught fire in Marsa Alam, southeastern Egypt, revealed that the three Britons who had been reported missing for days have died from burns. The identities of the missing British tourists in the fire incident have been confirmed as Christine Conin (female), and two men, Stephen Hill and Paul Darling. Authorities have deployed crews to retrieve the remains and wreckage of the sunken boat, which drifted about 20 kilometers from the accident site. Intensive efforts are also underway to recover the bodies of the three Britons.
A statement from the Red Sea governorate indicated that preliminary examinations suggest an electrical short circuit occurred in the engine room of the boat, which was carrying the British tourists on a diving trip. The statement clarified that the catastrophe was exacerbated by the explosion of oxygen tanks intended for diving. Egyptian authorities managed to rescue 14 tourists from the boat.
