It added that "this step will prevent dealing with them and freeze any assets owned by them in Canada." The Canadian government stated in a press release that "today's sanctions include seven individuals for their roles in horrific and systemic human rights violations in the Iranian criminal justice system, particularly the Iranian revolutionary courts."
