Turkish Central Bank Governor Şahap Kavcıoğlu stated today, Thursday, that "inflation in the country is decreasing at a slower rate than the bank had anticipated, despite indicators showing a noticeable slowdown in price increases." In his second statement on inflation this year, Kavcıoğlu said that "cost pressures on inflation have largely been alleviated," and added that "the Turkish central bank has maintained its inflation forecast at 22.3 percent for 2023," indicating that "stabilizing credit conditions and the foreign exchange rate will allow for an improvement in inflation." Furthermore, in his remarks made in Ankara, he noted that "the central bank has also kept its annual inflation forecast for 2024 unchanged at 8.8 percent."
