The Paris City Council announced that thousands of tons of garbage have accumulated in the streets of the French capital after a week of sanitation workers striking in protest against the government's pension reform project. Three incineration plants outside the capital have halted operations, causing garbage bags to line entire sidewalks and overflowing containers. The agency "SEMAPA," responsible for household waste, stated that it has redirected garbage collection trucks to other storage and processing sites in the area, although it has not yet sought police assistance. The main measure in the reform involves raising the general retirement age from 62 to 64, which many see as unfair for individuals who started working at an early age.
