Josep Borrell, the EU's foreign policy chief, begins a two-day visit to Algeria today, Sunday. According to the Algerian News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement that Borrell will visit Algeria on March 12 and 13, 2023. During the visit, he will discuss enhancing cooperation between Algeria and the European Union in all areas. He will also address regional and international issues of mutual concern, particularly the situation in the Sahel, Libya, the Sahara, and the Palestinian issue. The statement indicated that the European official is scheduled to meet with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Prime Minister Ayman Benabderrahmane. This visit is Borrell's first to Algeria since taking office in December 2019.
