Frustration in China as COVID-19 Restrictions Tighten

There is a sense of frustration among residents and business owners in China as COVID-19 control measures are tightened, following a record increase in infections after weeks of raised hopes for easing restrictions. The significant rise in daily infections has led to widespread lockdowns, along with other restrictions on movement and business activities. As more residents are affected by the lockdown measures, some have begun to propose alternative suggestions for coexistence in their neighborhoods. In Beijing, residents of some residential complexes have exchanged suggestions on the "WeChat" messaging app regarding the possibility of quarantining infected neighbors at home as long as they do not exhibit severe symptoms. However, it remains unclear whether such suggestions can be implemented.
