The United Nations peacekeeping mission in Mali announced on Friday the death of one of its members and the severe injury of four others as a result of their patrol being attacked in northern Mali. The incident occurred near the town of Ber in the Timbuktu region. The mission stated that "the patrol was first subjected to an attack by an explosive device before its members faced direct gunfire."
