Minister: Australia and China Have Work to Do on Trade Relations

Australian Minister for Trade and Tourism Don Farrell announced in a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Wang Wentao in Beijing on Friday that both countries still have "work to do before reaching normal trade relations in all areas." Farrell noted, "We can see the benefits to businesses and consumers in Australia and China, thanks to the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement," established in 2015. He added, "Australia always prefers dialogue to dispute" regarding the current case at the World Trade Organization, emphasizing that he can "see the benefits of dialogue reflected in the agreements we've reached and finding a path to resolution."
