Syrian television reported that "a member of the internal security forces was killed and two others were injured in an explosion caused by an improvised explosive device planted by unknown individuals on the Damascus-Drala highway." It added: "A patrol of the internal security forces was targeted with an explosive device planted by unknown persons on the side of the road, resulting in the death of one member and the injury of two others, who were transferred to the National Hospital in Drala."
