A WHO official announced that the global stockpile of cholera vaccines, which the organization helps manage, is "empty or extremely low currently." Dr. Philippe Barboza, head of the Cholera and Diarrheal Diseases team at the World Health Organization, stated, "All vaccines that have been produced are allocated, so we now have to wait for the next batch currently in production to be allocated." He was referring to the stockpiles maintained by the International Coordination Group for Vaccine Provision, which is managed by the WHO and other partners.
