A spokesperson for the Pakistani government confirmed that clashes took place today, Tuesday, between the police and supporters of former Prime Minister Imran Khan outside his home in Lahore, eastern Pakistan, prior to his potential arrest.
Amir Mir, the government spokesperson, stated, "A few hundred of Khan's supporters gathered outside the house after a police team from Islamabad arrived to arrest him based on a court order." He added that members of Khan's party (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) were the ones who initiated the violence, which resulted in injuries to several police officials. Mir further said, "If Imran Khan ensures his appearance in court, that would be good; otherwise, the law will take its course."
He also mentioned that the government has summoned paramilitary forces to control the situation.
