The London marine insurance market has listed Sudan as a high-risk area following its violent clashes. Any ship sailing in the country will need to pay an additional insurance premium for war risks and also obtain approval from its insurance company. Skuld insurance stated, "There is an increased risk of military activity around the port, and there is at least a real risk of stray munitions falling during operations in Port Sudan." Maersk noted that the ongoing clashes "have a significant impact on logistics operations in the country." Hapag-Lloyd remarked that "the current political turmoil in Sudan poses challenges to supply chains."
