The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre reported that a 6.5 magnitude earthquake struck northern Afghanistan on Tuesday evening at a depth of 194 kilometers. Its epicenter was in the Hindu Kush mountain range near the remote Badakhshan province of Afghanistan, leading to the deaths of two people in the eastern Laghman province, according to a spokesperson for Afghanistan's disaster response ministry. Residents in northern Pakistan also felt the tremor, resulting in the death of a 13-year-old girl and injuring 150 people in the Swat region of northern Pakistan, where hospitals declared a state of emergency. Authorities and relief workers stated that residents experienced a strong quake in Badakhshan and other northern areas. A spokesperson for the Red Cross mentioned that they had no immediate reports of damage in the capital of Badakhshan but were checking other areas. Residents of the Indian capital, New Delhi, also felt the tremor.
