The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations announced that one-fifth of food production in Turkey has been affected by the devastating earthquake that struck the southern region of the country. The organization explained that more than 20 percent of food production in Turkey was impacted due to the earthquake, which hit 11 major agricultural provinces. It mentioned that the affected area is known as the "Fertile Crescent" in Turkey, accounting for approximately 15 percent of the country's agricultural income. It added, "More than one-third of the population in the affected areas relies on agriculture for their livelihoods and is now struggling to cover their expenses."
