Turkish Foreign Minister: U.S. Ambassador's Meeting with Opposition Presidential Candidate is Unacceptable

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu stated on Wednesday that the meeting between U.S. Ambassador Jeff Flake and the main opposition presidential candidate in Turkey, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, is unacceptable. Following a NATO meeting in Brussels, coinciding with the welcoming of Finland's accession to the alliance, Çavuşoğlu commented that "the meeting held by the ambassador is contrary to diplomatic norms, as elections will be held in Turkey in less than two months."
