Pentagon Prepares to Send Patriot Missile System to Ukraine

A U.S. defense official revealed that Washington is preparing to send a "Patriot" missile defense system to Ukraine to "enhance defense against Russian attacks," with an announcement possible as soon as this week. According to CNN, the Biden administration is finalizing plans to send this system to Ukraine, noting that the Pentagon's plan still requires approval from Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin before being sent to President Biden for signing. Once the plans are complete, officials expect the shipping of "Patriot" missiles in the coming days, with training for Ukrainians to use them at a U.S. Army base in Grafenwoehr, Germany. Pentagon Press Secretary Air Force Brigadier General Pat Ryder declined to comment on this information, stating that he "has nothing to announce at this time." Ryder confirmed that the U.S. will continue "looking for the best ways we can support Ukraine better, to protect its people and its infrastructure and to survive attacks."
