Spanish emergency services announced today, Saturday, that two people were killed and ten others were injured after a fire broke out in a restaurant in the capital, Madrid. The fire ignited late last night in an Italian restaurant located in the Salamanca district of the city. A witness told the newspaper "El País" that "the incident occurred when a waiter used an alcoholic substance and a source of fire to add a touch to a dish before serving it, causing flames to spread to the walls and ceiling." Emergency services reported that customers in the restaurant struggled to escape as the fire erupted near the main emergency exit.
