The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre announced that "two earthquakes, one with a magnitude of 6.1 and the other with a magnitude of 5.8, struck the Kepulauan Batu area in Indonesia late on Saturday night." The centre stated that "the first earthquake occurred at a depth of 43 kilometers while the second one was at a depth of 40 kilometers, with a few hours' difference between them."
