Two-Year-Old Daughter Infected with Cholera

The municipality of Ghazieh announced in a statement that "in light of the announcement regarding a cholera case in the town, we clarify that this reported case pertains to a two-year-old Syrian girl who was infected on October 8th. It has been determined that the source of the infection is the town of Arsal. The municipality has been monitoring the case daily since it was discovered about two weeks ago, in cooperation with the Workers’ Association and the Red Cross for preventive measures and medical follow-up. The health condition of the child is currently very good, as she completed the period of infection defined by the Ministry of Health six days ago."

The statement added that the municipality "has established a preventive plan as follows:

1. Inspecting the public artesian wells that supply homes with water and conducting the necessary tests.

2. Holding a cooperative meeting with the owners of water tankers that transport water to homes to ensure the safety of the water and its compliance with disinfecting and preventive standards, while also inspecting and disinfecting it.

3. Coordinating with public and private schools in the town to follow up on taking all preventive and awareness measures, in addition to communicating and providing support in case of infection, as well as conducting the necessary water tests when needed.

4. Launching electronic and field awareness campaigns that help in taking public safety preventive measures."

The municipality emphasized the "necessity of cooperation in implementing the preventive measures listed below and reporting any positive cases at the following number: 70169139 to ensure public safety."
