Increase in U.S. Consumer Spending in May

The Department of Commerce indicated today, Friday, that "consumer spending rose by 0.1% last month," and the data for April was revised to 0.6% instead of the previously reported 0.8%, showing an acceleration in spending. The Personal Consumption Expenditures Price Index increased by 0.1% in May, after rising by 0.4% in April.
