Beirut Airport: Cocaine Capsules Found in Traveler's Stomach

Customs officials at Rafik Hariri International Airport in Beirut successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle a quantity of cocaine. The operation involved a meticulous follow-up on a passenger arriving from Brazil via Turkey, who had swallowed the drugs.

Following a review of passenger manifests and the countries they were arriving from, a Brazilian national was targeted based on suspicion of swallowing capsules containing narcotics. After consulting with the relevant judicial authorities, he was handed over to the Central Drug Control Office. Further investigations revealed a significant number of cocaine-filled capsules in his stomach, which he had swallowed to smuggle into Lebanon.
