The Ukrainian Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office announced yesterday, Thursday, that the former head of the Supreme Court, who was removed from his position after being arrested on charges of bribery amounting to $2.7 million, will remain in pretrial detention until July 14. Kyiv is intensifying efforts to combat corruption despite the Russian invasion, as this is a fundamental requirement for joining the European Union. The prosecutor's office stated via its channel on the "Telegram" app that the former head of the Supreme Court, whose name was not disclosed, has another option of paying a bail amounting to 107 million hryvnias ($2.9 million). Vasyly Knyazev was leading the court until this week. The office added: "The High Anti-Corruption Court ruled that detention of the suspect was necessary and imposed the precautionary measure of pretrial detention with an option for release on bail."
