Meta Platforms will provide researchers access to a new "human-like" AI model capable of analyzing and completing images with greater accuracy than current models. The company stated that the new model (I-JEPIA) utilizes prior knowledge about the world to fill in missing parts of images, rather than just relying on nearby components like other generative AI models.
It added that this approach involves a form of human-like reasoning, supported by chief AI scientist Yann LeCun, which helps the technology avoid common mistakes in images generated by AI, such as inadvertently showing a human hand with extra fingers.
