Ukrainian Army Commander: Stabilizing the Situation in Besieged Bakhmut

The Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian forces, General Valerii Zaluzhnyi, announced on Saturday that Ukrainian forces have managed to thwart the Russian attack on the eastern city of Bakhmut and its surroundings, where the situation is currently being stabilized. Zaluzhnyi stated in a post via Telegram following a conversation with his British counterpart, Tony Radakin, "The direction of Bakhmut is the most difficult; the situation is being stabilized thanks to the tremendous efforts of the defense forces." The British Ministry of Defense reported that the ongoing Russian assault on the city, which has lasted for months, has stopped, primarily due to significant losses in Russian forces. Ukrainian military spokesperson Serhii Cherevatyi stated that Russian attacks in Bakhmut and its vicinity have decreased to less than 20 attacks per day, compared to thirty or more previously.
