Midfielder Leandro Paredes and striker Dusan Vlahovic scored goals as Juventus won 2-1 against Lecce, reclaiming the second position in the Serie A standings on Wednesday. Juventus now has 63 points from 33 matches, putting pressure on third-placed Lazio, which has 61 points before their match against Sassuolo later today. Lecce, in 16th place, thought they had taken the lead when Assan Ceesay scored just three minutes into the game, only for the goal to be disallowed by VAR for offside.
Paredes gave the home side the lead after 15 minutes, converting a direct free kick from outside the penalty area into the bottom left corner. Lecce equalized in the 37th minute through Ceesay, who scored from a penalty awarded for a handball by Danilo. Vlahovic restored Juventus's lead three minutes later with a left-footed shot from the edge of the penalty area. Ceesay, unmarked, almost leveled for the visitors in the closing moments with a header from close range, but Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny denied him with two saves.
