The Banks Association announced the suspension of its strike and will continue its discussions with the relevant authorities, with the intention to take a position based on the practical outcomes of these talks starting from tomorrow morning, Wednesday. In a statement, it mentioned that on the occasion of the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan and to facilitate issues for all citizens, and in light of the ongoing communications with the relevant authorities to address the dysfunction in the judicial and regulatory sectors, it decided to suspend the strike.
The Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon had issued a circular announcing an ongoing and open operation to purchase Lebanese banknotes and sell cash in dollars, calling on banks to end their strike and participate in this operation.
In another statement issued by the Central Bank of Lebanon, it announced that the trading volume on the "Sayrafa" platform reached 12 million dollars, with an exchange rate of 90,000 Lebanese pounds per dollar, based on the exchange rates of transactions executed by banks and exchange institutions on the platform.
