Sources concerned with financial matters have confirmed that manipulation of the dollar's price is being carried out by known gangs of currency dealers, traders, and smugglers, whose names and locations are recognized, along with the entities connected to them, under the Central Bank of Lebanon and other Lebanese agencies. The most alarming aspect is that these gangs enjoy protections from everyone, especially since this game yields extraordinary profits for these players, amounting to hundreds of thousands of "fresh" dollars daily.
While sources affirmed that there is no economic or financial justification for these dangerous jumps in the dollar's price, they noted that the rise is primarily political. They warned against circulating promotions within financial, economic, and political circles regarding unprecedented and potentially catastrophic jumps in the dollar price, which have been prepped since before the end of last year, and began to manifest in actual terms in recent days, culminating yesterday when the dollar, as previously promoted before year-end, began to approach the threshold of 50,000 Lebanese pounds in a blatant plundering of the Lebanese citizen.
